Thrift store grunge made in a Sydenham basement.
Lost Initiative is the fever dream of one confused Canadian with a red flannel, a distortion pedal, and no discernible plan. Helmed by Erik, a self-proclaimed “accidental musician” who once tried to record a song using only feedback and regret, Lost Initiative was never meant to be a project—it just sort of… happened. Somewhere between lighting a joint with a toaster and plugging his Mustang guitar into an unplugged amp “for the vibes,” he accidentally wrote 60+ instrumental tracks that may or may not be cries for help. With zero industry clout, questionable production methods, and the unwavering confidence of someone who doesn’t know how compressors work, Erik channels the spirit of 90s grunge through a blender of chaos, apathy, and stoner wisdom. Is he reinventing the genre? No. Does he know what he’s doing? Also no. But he’s doing it anyway. And honestly? That might be the whole point.
